It gives me immense pleasure to record that Dasmesh College/School of Nursing has been established under the Sangat Sahib Bhai Pheru Sikh Educational Society, Faridkot. The college building with spacious classrooms, well equipped laboratories and library as per INC norms is located in an area of 5 acres of land.

The institute is recognized by Punjab Government, PNRC, INC and BFUHS, FDK. . The college has flourished in a short span of time and has maintained a high standard of nursing education, through the co-operation of management committee and dedication of faculty members. Introduction

Dasmesh College/School of Nursing has been established under Sangat Sahib Bhai Pheru Sikh Educational Society, Faridkot which was established for imparting education to all communities. The college is attached with 100 bedded multispecialty Dasmesh General Hospital Faridkot. The focus is on providing medical and educational facilities to the down trodden strata of the society with particular focus on women education. The society is continuously working to maintain the centre of excellence for the pursuit of higher studies in nursing and dental sciences.

The classes are handled by qualified and motivated professionals who are capable in providing the skills and knowledge needed to meet the challenges of today. The teachers are noted for their professionalism and friendliness and are ever eager to help students to achieve greater academic success. The college offers a wide range of professional, multicultural, social, sports and other extracurricular activities to unmask and grow the hidden talent of the students.

Philosophy of Dasmesh College/School of Nursing

The college faculty believes to train professional nurses to meet the challenges of modern health care delivery system in conformity with the discipline of nursing profession. It believes in sacrificing one’s own self interest for a greater cause and in serving the society for a sustainable growth, a growth which is not partial but takes all strata of society together on the path of progress so that no one is left behind.

Infrastructure

Dasmesh College of nursing, a constituent college of SSSBP Society, Faridkot spreads over an area of 5 acres of land that provides a clean, open and pollution free academic environment to the students. The institute has been offering degree in B.Sc (N) since 2009, Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (G.N.M)and Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (A.N.M) diploma since 2010 and Post Basic B.Sc (N) since 2011. All these courses are recognized by Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot and Punjab Nurses Registration Council, Chandigarh.

This is an important land mark in the history of this rural, but historical belt of Faridkot, as these educational activities will lead to better health services and quality patient care. The institute is going to become one of its own kind in imparting liberal education (intellectual, moral and physical) on complete pattern with the view towards all round development of students to enable them to compete globally.

The institute has well ventilated classrooms in all nursing laboratories which are well equipped as per INC norms. The computer laboratory has sufficient number of computers alongwith internet facilities for students and college faculty. The clinical training to students is provided under the supervision of well qualified and trained faculty. The institute also has well maintained multimedia rooms for the classes.

The college library has almost 2000 books in stock on nursing and allied subjects and is timely updated with new journals (National and International) and magazines. Hostel is well furnished with all required facilities of mess, safe drinking water and electricity round the clock.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Basic B.Sc Nursing course:

Candidate should have passed Senior Secondary Exam or equivalent examination from a recognized board in science stream with not less than 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together.

2. B.Sc (N) Post Basic nursing course:

Candidates with General Nursing and Midwifery (G.N.M) course of 3 ½ years of duration and must be registered with State Nursing Council are eligible.

3. General Nursing and Midwifery (G.N.M):

Candidate should have passed Senior Secondary Exam or equivalent examination from a recognized board in any stream with 40% marks in aggregate.

4. Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery (A.N.M)

Candidate should have passed Senior Secondary exam or equivalent examination in any stream from a recognized board.

Admission Procedure:

Admissions as per existing rules and regulations of Punjab Govt, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Indian Nursing Council and Punjab Nurses Registration Council.
